This piece is not as demanding as Ferranti's showpieces, however, it does focus on important instrumental techniques and musical requirements. They adhere to the old musical maxim which holds that the simpler the piece, the more difficult it is to make it sound simple, and these miniatures sound most eloquent when played in a rather reserved style.
