To be used with standard soundcards that have unbalanced inputs (which is 99% of soundcards out there).
Now I know you are asking, "how in the world could this be so cheap?" High quality flat preamps are tres expensive, but they don't have to be. Today there are very high quality chipsets that provide superb quality low-level amplification like is needed in a phono preamp with almost no distortion and noise. To show you just how good this is, check out these specs: Model CTP-1000 Stereo Unbalanced Output Flat Phono Pre-Amplifier Specifications(Specifications are typical and subject to change without notice)Frequency Response: 10 Hz to 150 KHz, +/- 1 dB @ 2 Volts Peak to Peak Output Maximum Output Voltage Swing: 5.75 Volts Peak to Peak w/ > 8.35 VDC Power Supply Slew Rate: 3.25 Volts / uSec Voltage Gain: 28 dB Channel Separation: 60 dB @ 1 KHz Total Harmonic Distortion + Noise: < 0.008% @ 1 KHz Signal to Noise Ratio (Referenced to 2 Vrms Output, A Weighted): 80 dB Input Terminating Resistance: 47 KOhms Output Impedance: 1 KOhm, Unbalanced Power Supply Input Voltage Range: 8.35 Volts to 12 Volts DC Power Supply Input Power Requirements: 9 Volt Battery or External 9 Volt DC Source Power Supply Input Current: 3.5 mA @ 9 Volts DC Input, Quiescent Power Supply Input Current Maximum: 14 mA @ 12 Volts DC Power Supply Maximum Input Power: 170 mWatts @ 12 Volts DC Our new preamps do not include error inducing RIAA circuits. Your customers will use them ONLY to transfer their vinyl to the computer so that they can end up with magnificent sounding CDs and DVDs. A computer program which can provide an almost mathematically perfect RIAA EQ curve is required. We recommend our DC Six for this.
