Lehmann HOW TO SING |
Mme. Lehmann was much admired for her dramatic presence and for her great repertoire, said to have included at least 600 lieder and 170 operatic roles. She possessed a powerful and flexible voice equal to the vocal demands of Bellini and Verdi as well as those of Mozart and Wagner. As her career progressed, her extraordinary vocal range enabled her to embrace with equal ease the coloratura soprano role of the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, the dramatic soprano role of Brunnhilde in Wagner’s Die Walkure and the mezzo-soprano title role in Bizet’s Carmen. Few can speak with her authority in matters of vocal training, voice conservation and role preparation.
In How to Sing, Mine. Lehmann draws upon her vast experience and a profound understanding of her art to offer inspiration and sound advice in every phase of singing, from how to breathe correctly, produce a ringing head tone and execute a proper trill to important nuances of vocal expression and role interpretation. Her recommended vocal exercises and guidelines for proper care of the voice will be of particular interest to vocal teachers, coaches and therapists as well as singers and voice students.
