It is time tested and has proven to be quite successful in building the harmonic knowledge and technique needed to play any style. It teaches note reading and in book one, the guitarist will learn to play solos, duets, scales and chords in the keys of C, A minor, G and E minor. The method is supplemented by a companion study book entitled Grade 1 Studies and by a play along stereo cassette, two different CD recordings and an instrumental video. The original companion recordings feature Tommy Flint and William Bay playing on a split-track format. This means that the solo parts and first duet parts will be performed on the right channel of a stereo player, and the accompaniment or second duet parts will be played on the left. The student thus may play with the full recording or tune out either channel and play the missing part!
