Download an MP3 Demo "New Hip Hop and R&B grooves disk for Yamaha RM1xTMIn a double world first, we have produced our first Native Format volume of MIDI Samples, and Yamaha's ultra cool RM1x Sequence Remixer has its first 'contents disk.'The Yamaha RM1x Hip Hop and R&B Groove Library comprises no less than 25 brand new and highly kewl hip hop/R&B grooves created for us by Ron E Beck, one-time Tower Of Power drummer (in their prime), and now sought-after East Bay producer and recording artist. Ranging from sparse and slinky R Kelly/TLC type grooves, to earthy funk, to raw, up front grooves not so much in your face as down your throat , all can of course be remixed, stretched, and deconstructed on the fly using the RM1x's real-time knobs and performance controls. What's in a groove?Each groove has a wide variety of independently controllable drum/percussion parts, plus bass, keys, guitar, synths, and custom effects. Grooves range from 4 to 16 bars in length.But that's not all. We have trawled the Keyfax vaults looking for all those juicy out-takes that didn't make it onto some of the more sober MIDI sample volumes and added a further 96 individual instrument licks that you can cut and paste into any pattern, to build or spice it up. Guitar lines, basslines, drumloops, synth parts, and even some snakey trumpet and sax phrases. Everything comes in native (R1P) format. Yep, just insert the floppy, find an empty pattern, and hit load. You get the right sounds, effects, tempo... instantly. Want more?The RM1x can also load in Standard MIDI File .MID files, so the entire Keyfax Twiddly.Bits library can be used as yet more raw material. Assimilating .MIDs is a little more long-winded but we give you a Step-by-Step in the owner's manual so it's perfectly do-able. There's a lot of groove machines on the market now, but we feel the RM1x has the right (ahem) mix of control, and cool, blending the best features of MIDI and sampling/DJ technology (though it's not a sampler of course): flexibility, file size, and access from MIDI, and sound stability, and bags of opportunity to go crazy from DJ territory.The Yamaha RM1x Hip Hop and R&B Groove Library is fully endorsed by Yamaha, and is priced at an almost ludicrous $29.95. If you already own an RM1x we think you're going to find this the next most vital plug-in after the mains lead (or power cord as called in USA). And if you don't, well, chances are it'll convince you that you should.
