Programmer's ToolKit not only contains essential techno drum and bass beats, classic keyboard riffs, arpeggios etc, but also NRPN Data allowing 'enhanced' General MIDI sound sources - typically Roland GS and Yamaha XG instruments - to deliver analog synthesizer style effects like filter sweeps, resonance whistles and more for use in a variety of 1990s ambient, techno, jungle, rave dance-inspired synth music settings.

How? Well, you call up a file, say, CTOFRIF.MID ("filter CuTOFf RIFfs"), select one of its tracks and, played in conjunction with a self-played bassline, riff, or any series of notes, the sound on a connected GS/XG instrument will have its filter cutoff position continuously tweaked, thus making the sound come alive and move around. Dead simple. Dead quick.
