Quick Facts
The InstrumentsWhen deciding to record high quality percussion the biggest part of the equation, (together with microphones, studiotechnology and know-how) are of course the instruments. Mikael Emsing is one of the most talented musicians we know and since his choice on what percussion to use was so clear we could only follow his lead. Mikael is sponsored by Meinl and they generously supplied us with pretty much their whole line of percussive instruments.Mikael has a running partner that he's played with for years. Per Mikaelsson, a drummer with an amazingly broad range of styles and genres in his playing. From popmusic through jazz to playing percussion with Umeå Symphony Orchestra. If you know that these two guys complement each other exceptionally well and that Per has just bought the coolest Yamaha Cocktail Jazz drumkit (a remake of a 20s style jazz kit where the bassdrum and the snare are fused together into a tall standing drum, where the bassdrum beater hits the bottom of the drum) can you resist recording it? Of course not. Hence the really cool vintage style compact Cocktail kit. Surprisingly useful for creating all kinds of acoustic style music. Recording detailsRoyerlab R-121 was used for all closed miced sounds in this ReFill, the ambience is captured using a Royerlab SF12. These fine microphones were fed through custom made tube Pre-amps designed and manufactured by Olof Westman. The library was recorded to a Pro Tools HD system at 192 Khz/24bit resolution. Finally all samples were edited and dithered to 44.1 Khz 16- and 24-bit. No sounds are pre or post processed.SYSTEM REQUIREMENTSMINIMUM SYSTEM:Windows: - Intel Pentium III / 1 Ghz - 512 MB RAM - DVD DriveMac OS - Power Macintosh G4 550 Mhz - 512 MB RAM - DVD Drive RECOMMENDED SYSTEM:Windows:- Intel Pentium 4 / 2.4 Ghz - 1024 MB RAM - Low latency ASIO compatible soundcard - DVD DriveMac OS- Power Macintosh G5 or Dual G4 / 1.4 Ghz - 1024 MB RAM - DVD Drive
