"Modern Drummer" Festival Weekend 1998 Sunday

Modern Drummer Festival Weekend 1998, which took place May 16 and 17, featured a diverse line-up of some of the world's most exciting and innovative drummers. The entire weekend's events were videotaped and the best moments of the festival are presented on this two-tape series. Included are excerpts of each performance, plus interviews with each of the featured performers, as well as footage of other notable drummers who were in attendance. This 85-minute tape of Sunday's music includes these features: Glen Velez demonstrates rhythms, sounds, and effects on several different types of frame drums * Jo Jo Mayer from Screaming Headless Torsos performs a solo "tour de force" and plays in a trio setting * Eddie Bayers, Nashville's busiest session drummer, performs with a quartet and offers practical insights into studio playing as well as inspirational advice * Dave Weckl performs for the first time as a band leader, offering material from the CD Rhythms of the Soul.
